                                                  Creative Writing: Visual Stimuli


                                                  Pictures are often included in the HSC paper as a stimulus for a story. If you choose a visual stimulus, you MUST EXPLICITLY link your story to the image. Some images are very abstract, so there are many ways to link your story idea; others are very specific so that you have to use the characters and places in the picture.

                                                  1. Abstract images
                                                  These pictures are abstract. They may take you longer to think about, but they can be used to fit many stories on a symbolic level. If you have trouble thinking of ideas, try
